Wow! The first month of 2018 is basically over… finally. Do you feel like January is sooo long? This month has been a month full of falling in love with beauty products. I figured I should update you all on my current favorites!
How is the first month of 2018 almost over already!? This year has already been a great year for me. A goal of mine is to “live my best life” this year. I hate myself for saying that because it reminds me of Rachael from last seasons Bachelor when she tells that sooooo rudely to the perfect, beautiful, Peter. OKKKAY, snap out of it Miranda…Read More
2017 was a great year for me. I accomplished a huge dream of mine, met incredible people, and made some pretty great memories. Although 2017 was so sweet to me, I’d be lying if I say I didn’t have a few struggles. I worried about a lot. I worried to the point of making myself feel sick and couldn’t concentrate on anything but the thing I was worried about. The past few months realized that I had nothing to worry about!! Everything that is meant to be, will be. I found contentment in knowing God had His hand on me the whole time, and He took me to exactly where I needed to be.
Hey guys! With Christmas is quickly approaching, I decided to put together a quick wishlist/ gift guide. I pulled a few items that I asked for this year and a few items that I could only dream of getting this year!! Thankfully, each website these items are linked to have fast delivery and will get here before Christmas if you decide to order anything 🙂
MY CHRISTMAS WISHLIST:
Last week, study tour went to ABC Carpet & Home for our last study tour. The store was filled with beautiful home furniture! I was amazed and wish I knew about this place sooner. Everything was arranged so beautifully and aesthetically pleasing.
We learned about where each piece of furniture was from and also about each artist. The store also featured a quite place that people could come to to meditate. I loved this idea because I think it is important to remember to breathe and slow down in the busy city.
I loved exploring ABC Carpet & Home and cannot wait to shop there when decorating my future apartment.
This week we went to Randa Accessories in Midtown to hear from a variety of speakers about their jobs and the company overall. Randa makes mens accessories. They are known for ties and belts. for A few brands under the “Randa umbrella” are Kennith Cole, Levi’s, and Ryan Seacrest Collection. During their presentation we heard from a few Kent State alums who now work at the company. Many of the employees went through the company’s internship program and were then extended a job offer after their internship. It sounded like their internship is extremely hands on to provide the interns a real inside- look at the fashion industry.
The last two ladies showed us sample fabrics and talked about where their ties are produced. Then they gave each of us a tie to take home. Overall, the speakers were very knowledgable about their company and it was great to learn about the company!
The chapter of my life where I lived in a tiny 3bedroom apartment in Midtown Manhattan is over and I am still in disbelief at the life I have been living the past 4 months… Here it goes:
Something I am definitely going to miss…
This is a long one. Although I will miss the endless supply of unique restaurants, amazing shopping, and living away from Ohio, I will miss the people who made these 4 months so incredible. Faith, Melissa, and Tatum have become 3 of my best friends. I didn’t believe that it was true when people said you will eventually find your people in college until I met them. I can’t thank them enough for all the laughs, love, and support they have shown me. Oh and our rooftop view, I will miss that equally as much!! New York gave me a feeling of confidence I can’t describe. Walking those streets, knowing I worked so hard to be there, is a feeling I will remember forever. Everyday in New York was something different, you never knew what to expect.
Last Thursday my class ventured to the Dover Street Market. This market was curated by Rei Kawakubo designer of Comme Des Garcons. In the market, we saw so may cool garments from a range of different designers including Gucci, Supreme, The Row, Comme Des Garcons, and Calvin Klein. The market is 7 floors and each floor is filled with a bunch of clothing by so many designers. What I loved about DSMNY was that each designer gets a space in the market and they are allowed to decorate and design their space. I loved how designers are able to add art to their collections this way.
Rei Kawakubo said, “We hope to make DSMNY more and more interesting. I enjoy seeing all the customers coming to DSMNY dressed in their strong, good looking and individual way. I would like for DSMNY to be the place where fashion becomes fascinating.”
DSMNY was so interesting to see! I loved how they choose to show the designers more complex and crazy designs rather than what a department store like Saks Fifth Avenue would show.
Last week my class had the amazing opportunity to visit the Sam Edelman Showroom and office! I have always loved Sam Edelman shoes so I was really excited to be able to take a look at where all the magic happens.
We heard from Libby Edelman herself. She was one of the most inspiring ladies I have ever met. She explained where she gets the inspiration from for each collection and she takes a few lucky team members to go with her on the adventure to find inspiration.
The other lady that blew me away was the woman in charge of PR & Marketing. I felt like she REALLY knew the key tools on how to make a lasting impression on customers. I loved the idea of partnering with a charity for events.
I was very impressed with Sam Edelman and it only inspired me to really focus on starting my own company one day.
“If you want to find happiness, find gratitude.”
Lately I have felt an overwhelmingness of happiness. I feel like I am exactly where I am supposed to be and doing exactly what I am supposed to be doing in this exact moment. Do I have it all together? OF COURSE NOT. If I did, I prob wouldn’t have gotten into a random car thinking it was my uber. Yeah, face palm.
I am realizing that my happiness is stemming from my grateful heart. How can you be happy if you do not appreciate what you have been given? How can you be happy if you are not content with where you are?
Every Monday morning I take time to reflect on what and who I am grateful for. This reminds me of all the reasons I have to be happy and also helps me to live out my gratefulness.
What are you grateful for?
