Archives for September 2017
Hey everyone! Before I jump into my next blog post, I wanted to say thank you to everyone that has supported me. I would not have the confidence that I have without you all that are constantly encouraging me! I can not express how thankful I am!
Today I am sharing a video I made of mine and my mom’s 4 days in California. We literally flew in because I bought ONE ticket to see Harry Styles perform at The Greek Theatre… I am insane, I know. Read More
Paul + William is a PR firm based in New York City and Los Angeles. The two men who came up with the company are both from Ohio, and shared the desire to create something new and different. The company aims to be involved in every part in their clients company and maintaining connections to the product, creators, ideas, and the market. They do not believe in office politics. There is no right and wrong way.
They work with partnerships dealing with entertainment marketing, celebrity partnerships, brand collaborations, and industry relationships. They plan events and promotions and build brand awareness and brand image through marketing and content creation.
A few of their clients are Patagonia, Levi’s, and Salt.
After reading about this company, I have become very interested in learning more about how PR companies work.
Happy fall everyone!! I have been counting down the days until fall since last Christmas.. and I wish I was exaggerating. I am so ready to wear chunky sweaters and be cozy while drinking a cup of hot apple cider.. but sadly, it still does not feel like fall weather. I am always torn on what to wear when it is late September but still 85 degrees out. I don’t feel comfortable wearing my summer jean shorts and I also don’t want to die of a heat stroke while wearing a cable knit sweater. I have styled an outfit that I think is PERFECT for this issue. I hope you enjoy!
The month of September is all about fashion. It starts with New York Fashion Week at the beginning of the month. Designers like Tom Ford, Zimmermann, Oscar de la Renta, Ralph Lauren, and Marchesa showed their Spring/ Summer 2018 Ready To Wear collections.
I loved all of the collections, but my favorite was Tom Ford.
My semester in the city has been filled with some pretty amazing opportunities. This past week, my study tour went to see the recording of The Harry Show with host, Harry Connick Jr.
My roommates and I were lucky to be seated in the very first row. We got to shake Harry’s hand. I would have probably been fangirling if I knew at the time how popular his show is.
(the lighting was terrible for selfies)
It is truly a dream to be in the city during New York Fashion Week!! Yesterday my roommate and I headed to Soho to go to the Rebecca Minkoff after party. While waiting to get in, we saw so many great street style looks. It was so inspiring and I felt at peace knowing these girls valued fashion and style as much as I did.
This past week, my study tour class had the opportunity to visit the Rebecca Minkoff store in Soho. Rebecca Minkoff is a luxury handbag, accessories, and ready-to-wear designer. She is a woman I have looked up to for the past 4 years so I was so excited to explore the store and learn more about what she is doing in the fashion industry.
A Salute to September
During class we watched the documentary “The September Issue” which showed how Vogue prepares for the September magazine 5 months in advanced. For people who are not aware, the September issue is the most important issue in the fashion world. In the documentary, they compare the September issue to January 1st. It is important because summer is over! Fall and winter fashion has finally returned. New seasons bring new trends. What we see in the September issue will set the tone for what we will see in the coming months.
I enjoyed watching “The September Issue” because it reminded me how important and interesting print media is. Digital media is quickly taking print medias place and importance. What happened to picking up the new issue of Vogue and Cosmo from a news stand on the side of the street? After seeing how long it takes to prepare an issue of a magazine, I have a better appreciation of holding a newly printed copy in my hands and flipping through the columns. That is also what interested me the most; the time and how EVERY single detail is thought out months in advanced.
Out of all the September Issues I have seen so far, the cover for Harper’s Bazaar is my favorite. I love this cover because it is simple yet captivating. I love the pink font and mostly black background.
During my time in New York, I have the opportunity to take a class called “NYC Study Tour”. During this class, we get to meet at different areas in the tri- state area. For our first week, we met at the Metropolitan museum to see the Rei Kawakubo exhibit.
Here are a few photos of my 3 favorite displays:
